HED Condensate Drains

Capacitive Level‑Sensed No‑Loss Drains for Compressed Air Systems

Condensate drains play a critical role in compressed air treatment: they automatically discharge accumulated water, oil, and oil/water emulsions to help prevent contamination and protect equipment performance. Proper drain installation is a key component in compressed air treatment systems, supporting reliable operation across dryers, filters, receivers, and other condensate collection points.

As compressed air cools through aftercoolers, piping, filters, and dryers, condensation and contaminants drop out of the air stream and collect throughout the system. Reliable condensate removal helps reduce the risk of corrosion, downstream damage, and process disruption—while supporting consistent air quality.

The Hankison HED Series (HED 600–HED 6000) is a family of capacitive, level‑sensed “no loss” drains designed to discharge condensate on demand—without wasting valuable compressed air.

Product range overview

The HED Series consolidates four core configurations to cover compact installations, high‑flow systems, and high‑pressure applications—under one consistent product family.

HED 600 — Compact no‑loss drain (tight spaces)

A compact, zero‑air‑loss design for smaller applications up to 10 m³/min (350 CFM), ideal where installation height is limited (e.g., refrigerated dryers and filters).

HED 600 Multi — Compact no‑loss drain with flexible inlet options

A compact solution designed for tight spaces with multiple inlets and optional alarm functionality; also offers a drain heater option for cold weather applications.

HED 6000 — Standard no‑loss drain for higher‑flow systems

A “compact solution” level‑sensed drain designed for systems up to 100 m³/min, using capacitive level sensing and including standard alarm options.

HED 6000 HP — High‑pressure no‑loss drain (up to 50 bar)

A high‑pressure variant designed for applications up to 50 bar, covering up to 100 m³/min, with standard alarm options and service‑friendly construction.

Quick selection guide in order to choose the right HED drain

Use flow, pressure, space constraints, and monitoring needs to select the best model:

  • Smaller systems (up to 10 m³/min) + limited space: choose HED 600 (compact, low inlet height)
  • Smaller systems + need more installation flexibility: choose HED 600 Multi (multiple inlets, optional alarm, heater option)
  • Higher flow systems (up to 100 m³/min) + monitoring: choose HED 6000 (capacitive level sensing, alarm, level indication)
  • High pressure up to 50 bar: choose HED 6000 HP (0–50 bar, alarm options)

Features

  • No‑loss drainage (zero air loss during discharge) — drains only when condensate is present, minimizing unnecessary compressed air loss.
Capacitive level sensing (range‑standard) — designed to improve efficiency by sensing and discharging condensate on demand.
Direct‑acting valve design — 2/2 way direct acting valve architecture used across the platforms for reliable discharge.
  • Integrated mesh strainer — helps protect the valve from debris and clogging for more reliable operation.
  • Industrial protection rating (IP65 / NEMA 4) — designed for demanding compressed air environments.
  • Service‑friendly maintenance — designs emphasize easier access and faster servicing (e.g., external valve construction on compact platforms; easy disassembly on CS platforms).
  • Common supply voltage options — available in 230VAC / 115VAC / 24VAC / 24VDC across the referenced configurations.

  • Monitoring & alarms (model‑dependent)

  • Alarm relay output (potential‑free) options:
  • HED 600 Multi: alarm feature with N/O or N/C potential‑free relay (optional).
  • HED 6000 / HED 6000 HP: alarm function N/O or N/C standard with potential‑free relay.
  • Visual status indication (LED) across platforms for quick checks during inspection and maintenance.
  • Level indication (HED 6000): digital, LED‑illuminated sight‑port/level indicator for easier monitoring in poorly lit areas.

Installation flexibility (model‑dependent)

Compact footprint (HED 600 / 600 Multi) with inlet height 74 mm to fit restrictive spaces.

Multiple inlet options (HED 6000 / 6000 HP) — three inlet options provide flexibility across system components.

Multiple inlets (HED 600 Multi) for improved installation versatility.
